‘Hawaii Five-0’ wins ratings again

"Hawaii Five-0" continued to arrest the competition, notching another ratings victory Monday night with more than twice as many viewers as its nearest rival.

Maybe it was the secret ingredient.

Monday’s episode included Mark Dacascos , host of "Iron Chef America," as the notorious villain Wo Fat.

"Five-0" drew 10.91 million viewers for the scripted drama. ABC’s "Castle" finished second with 5.27 million viewers and NBC’s "Chase" drew 4.43 million viewers.

When it has aired an original episode, "Five-0" has not lost its time slot since Nov. 15. But according to CBS press material, reruns are scheduled for the next two Mondays.

Oahu electric bills stable this month

Electricity bills for the typical Oahu residential customer are little changed this month.

Hawaiian Electric Co. said the typical 600-kilowatt-hour bill for Oahu residential customers is $158.26 in December, compared with $158.37 in November.

The effective rate for electricity on Oahu is 24.85 cents per kilowatt-hour, compared with 24.87 cents in November.

Elsewhere in the state:

» Rates for Maui customers rose to 30.56 cents per kilowatt-hour this month from November’s 30.06 cents. The typical Maui bill rose by $3 to $191.87.
» Big Island residential rates rose to 35.19 cents from last month’s 34.92 cents. The typical bill rose by $1.62 to $222.24.
» On Kauai, the rate rose to 36.94 cents per kilowatt-hour from 35.71 cents in November.

Go! Mokulele air traffic off 12%

The number of passengers carried by go! Mokulele declined 12 percent in November as the interisland carried offered fewer flights.

Go! Mokulele had 55,010 passenger compared with 62,503 in November 2009 while its load factor, or percentage of seats filled, slipped 2.33 percentage points to 66.09 percent from 68.41 percent.

Revenue passenger miles, or one paying passenger transported one mile, fell 15 percent to 7.2 million from 8.5 million while available seat miles, or one seat transported one mile, dropped 12 percent to 10.9 million from 12.4 million.

Aloha will supply fuel to base stores

Aloha Petroleum Ltd. has won a $45 million contract to supply gasoline and diesel to six military bases on Oahu.

The one-year contract with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service calls for Aloha Petroleum to supply six exchange locations starting in January.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is a joint military activity that provides merchandise and services to active duty, guard and reserve members, military retirees and their families.

Technical woes delay stock listings

New York Stock Exchange and American Stock Exchange listings in today’s paper are as of 8 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time for the second day in a row due to continued technical difficulties by The Associated Press, which supplies the Star-Advertiser with the data. The Nasdaq composite index listings are final as are the closing prices for the major indexes.

Yahoo to lay off 600

SAN FRANCISCO » Yahoo Inc. is reducing its work force by 4 percent as it hands out 600 layoff notices for the holidays. The job cuts announced yesterday follow weeks of speculation about whether a long-running financial funk would spur Yahoo to trim its payroll before the new year. This marks the fourth time in three years that Yahoo has resorted to mass firings to boost its earnings.

Hawaii Pacific University has named Janet S. Kloenhamer as its executive administrator for governance. She was previously a senior vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel for Fireman’s Fund Insurance as well as president of Allianz of America Resolution Services.

Bay Clinic has hired Keith Sanderson as chief financial officer. He has 25 years of accounting and financial organizational leadership in the health care industry.

‘Olelo Community Media has announced the appointment of Roy K. Amemiya Jr. as interim president and chief executive officer. He was previously a senior vice president of Central Pacific Bank and the former City Bank.

Clark Realty Corp. has announced that the 2010 Community Fund Campaign has raised $11,050 for Big Island charities. Organizations receiving awards were Salvation Army’s preschool keiki lunch program; Hawaii Ohana for Education in the Arts’ hands-on art workshops for grade-school children; Kohala Animal Relocation and Education Service’s animal food and veterinary services; and Family Support Hawaii, which provides help for individuals in need on the Big Island.
