He’s got a shooter’s mentality and the green light from his coach. What more could Brigham Young-Hawaii guard Tsung-Hsien "Jet" Chang want?
"I want to be able to lead the team," the junior from Taiwan said. "We have got a lot of talent this year, but we need to work harder to play together.
"I have to make better shots. And, yes, play defense."
The PacWest preseason player of the year definitely has the game down offensively. He put on a show last week at Long Beach State, scoring a game-high 32 points in a 90-83 loss to the Division I 49ers.
"They had their best defender on him, and he showed that he is one of those players who can score on anyone and from anywhere," Seasiders coach Ken Wagner said. "At the end, he had people cheering for him.

"Consistency is the key issue. He does have the green light to shoot … as long as he plays hard on the other end. He’s getting closer to being the player he was when he first got here."
As a freshman, Chang averaged 12.3 points en route to being named the PacWest freshman of the year. An arm injury limited his play last season to 17 games, but he finished with a 19.2-point average, best on the team.
The hotel management major said he struggled with the language, the culture and being separated from his family when he first arrived at BYU-Hawaii.
"But I thought it was a good opportunity to study and play," the 21-year-old said. "And the weather is always good. It is cold now in Taiwan."
Chang’s favorite NBA player is Kobe Bryant. He says that he patterned his game after the Los Angeles Lakers guard.
"He is very exciting to watch," Chang said. "He can score anytime. And he helps his team to win."
