Four teenagers riding in the back of a pickup were thrown from its bed last night in a hit-and-run crash on Keeaumoku Street.

Police were able to stop the alleged hit-and-run driver, a 25-year-old Liliha man, and arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving, driving with a suspended license, failure to render aid, and a warrant.

The crash occurred about 10:20 p.m. when a 1998 GMC Sierra pickup crashed into the back of a 2001 Nissan Frontier that was making a right turn into the Keeaumoku Street McDonald’s, police said.

Seven people were riding in the Nissan, including four in the back.

Police said five people were taken to the hospital, including the four teenagers in the pickup truck bed. An 18-year-old Kahuku women and a 17-year-old girl were taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition. Two 18-year-old women were treated and released from Straub Clinic and Hospital, police said.

A 49-year-old Waianae woman who was driving the pickup and a 47-year-old man who was the front seat passenger were not hurt. A man in the back of the cab was in good condition at Straub, police said.
