Cavs don’t appreciate LeBron’s attitude
CLEVELAND » Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson says he didn’t appreciate some of the things LeBron James had to say during his heated homecoming.
Gibson, embarrassed and disappointed by the way he and his teammates played in Thursday night’s 118-90 blowout loss to the Miami Heat, said he was upset by some of James’ actions and words during the game. Gibson said his relationship with James has been soured.
Gibson was bothered by James’ incessant trash talking to Cleveland’s bench. He also displeased with the perception that he and his teammates were fraternizing with Miami’s star, who left the Cavaliers after seven seasons this summer to join the Heat.
Karl talking extension
The Denver Nuggets and coach George Karl are discussing a contract extension through the 2011-12 season.
Karl, 59, who is closing in on 1,000 career wins, is in the final year of his contract. He missed the last couple of months last season while fighting throat and neck cancer. He recently received a clean bill of health but said his doctors will continue to monitor him.

Jackson apologizes
Charlotte Bobcats guard Stephen Jackson has sent a letter to fans apologizing for his ejection and ensuing one-game suspension for verbally abusing a referee.
Jackson’s letter was e-mailed to season-ticket holders yesterday, hours before he scored 25 points in a 91-84 win over the Nets.
Hawks sign Wilkins
The Atlanta Hawks have signed six-year NBA veteran Damien Wilkins, the nephew of Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins.
The 30-year-old Damien Wilkins adds depth as the Hawks adjust to losing star Joe Johnson for four to six weeks following elbow surgery.
