Motorcyclist injured in Aiea crash in September dies of head injuries

A motorcyclist who died from injuries sustained in a crash in Aiea on Sept. 19 has been recorded as the island’s 59th traffic fatality of the year.

Frank Knight, 47, of Aiea, died on Nov. 19 from complications due to head injuries he sustained in the crash, the city Medical Examiner’s Office said today.

A spokeswoman for the Honolulu Police Department also confirmed the death.

The crash happened on Aiea Heights Drive near Holo Place about 6:20 p.m. on a Sunday. Knight apparently lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into an embankment. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Oahu fatality total this year has already surpassed the 55 recorded in all of 2009.
