Police open assault case after man found with critical injuries in Kakaako
Police opened a third-degree assault case after a man was found with critical injuries in a roadway in Kakaako yesterday afternoon.
Police said a caller reported a man lying in the road fronting John Dominis Restaurant at 43 Ahui St. about 1 p.m.
Paramedics took the man, who appeared to be in his 40s, to the hospital in critical condition, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.
Police said a bicycle was found nearby.
Officers may open an assault case as a precaution when there are no apparent signs of how a person was hurt, an officer said.
