Hawaii posts air, water quality information online
The state Department of Health says it is posting on two new websites up-to-date information about Hawaii air and water quality.
The air quality site posts information from Oahu, Maui and the Big Island.
On Monday, the reading for Pahala, a town downwind of Kilauea volcano, was “moderate.” Readings for Kona, Kihei and Honolulu were “good.”
The water quality website includes information about sewage spills, storm runoff, beach contamination and other sources of water pollution.
The site also noted a ruptured sewer line at Pearl Harbor released 4,200 gallons of sewage into a storm drain that enters Pearl Harbor.
It warned divers to avoid the Pier Mike 1 area until bacteria levels return to normal.
