Woman in critical condition after 4-car collision on H-1 during evening rush hour
A 63-year-old woman was in critical condition after the car she was driving caused a four-vehicle collision on H-1 during last night’s rush hour.
Police said witnesses reported the woman was slumped over the steering wheel prior to the collision.
According to a police report, the woman’s 2005 Honda car was in the third east-bound lane of H-1 just before the Kalihi Street overpass at 5:18 p.m. when it slammed into a stopped 2007 Chevy pick-up. A 1995 Nissan sedan and a 2002 Ford pick-up were also struck before the Honda crashed into a concrete barrier.
The woman was unconscious and a witness and a solo-bike officer performed CPR until paramedics arrived. She was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition.
Police said speed, alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the collision. They said they believe she was suffering from a medical condition just before the accident.
No one else was injured.
