Former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan was feeling better and was alert today at the Queen’s Medical Center, a family spokeswoman said.

The hospital said he was listed in stable condition today; he had been in serious condition on Friday.

Brennan and two others were injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle collision in West Hawaii.

Brennan’s parents, Terry and Betsy, arrived in Honolulu about 1 p.m. from their home in Irvine, Calif.

Police on Friday said Brennan was a passenger in an SUV driven by Shakti Stream, 27, his girlfriend and a Kona resident. The SUV was traveling north on Queen Kaahumanu Highway near the 90-mile marker when it crossed the center line and collided with a oncoming Saab sedan driven by a 47-year-old Waikoloa woman.

Both women were in serious condition Friday, the Associated Press said. There was no update on their conditions today.

Brennan has broken ribs and a broken clavicle, a source said Friday. He also had a broken cheek bone, broken eye socket and punctured lung.

Terry Brennan said today that his son’s “head issues are favorable.” Doctors had examined him for possible head injuries.

Another family member in town is cousin Brent Brennan, a wide receivers coach for the San Jose State football team, which plays UH tonight at Aloha Stadium.
