Doug Chin, Mayor Peter Carlisle’s nominee for city managing director, sailed through his confirmation hearing today before the City Council Executive Matters and Legal Affairs Committee.

The committee voted unanimously to confirm Chin to the city’s No. 2 post.

The committee also voted unanimously to confirm Noel Ono as director of human resources. He received no public testimony at today’s committee hearing and no questions from members of the panel.

Chin received unanimous praise from the committee and from all four witnesses who testified on his behalf, including Attorney General Mark Bennett and Public Defender Jack Tonaki.

Both nominations go to the full Council for a final vote at its next meeting, Nov. 22.
