It may be earlier than you think on the mainland.

Most of the rest of the country returned to standard time at 2 a.m. Sunday by turning their clocks back one hour.

Hawaii residents and most of those living in Arizona don’t have to fiddle with their clocks because they don’t observe daylight saving time.

That means Hawaii is now only two hours behind the west coast and five hours behind the east coast.

Even for those who don’t change their clocks, public safety officials say now would be a good time to replace batteries in smoke alarms.

Daylight saving time returns the second Sunday in March.
