Parades, patriotic speeches and concerts are planned in honor of current and former military personnel at annual Veterans Day ceremonies throughout the state.

» On Thursday, Lt. Gen. Benjamin Mixon, commanding general of all Army soldiers in the Pacific, will be the keynote speaker at the annual Veterans Day ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

» More than 85 units will march in the Wahiawa Lions’ 65th annual Veterans Day parade, which will begin at 10 a.m. at Kaala Elementary School. Grand marshal will be Dr. Shigeo Kawamoto, a 442nd Regimental Combat Team veteran.

Maj. Gen. Bernard Champoux, commanding general of the 25th Infantry Division, is the featured speaker at the program to follow at Wahiawa District Park. There will be concerts, games, craft and food booths and cultural exhibits at the park until 2 p.m.

» The state’s Veterans Day ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe and will feature Gov. Linda Lingle.

» Maj. Gen. Robert Lee, who retires next month as state adjutant general, will deliver the keynote speech at the Battleship Missouri Veterans Day sunset ceremony at 4:45 p.m. on the battleship moored at Ford Island. The event will feature the Pacific Fleet Band.

» On Saturday, the Oahu Veterans Council will hold its Veterans Appreciation Day from noon to 4 p.m. at Oahu Veterans Center in Foster Village.
