Four Hawaii gymnasts earned spots on the National Talent Opportunity Program (TOPs) after competing against 300 gymnasts in the United States.

Hawaiian Island Twisters Gym member Madison Benzor and Island Tumblers Gymnastics member Jenna Domingo gained spots on the TOPs National A Team. Benzor, who was also a 2009 National A Team member, is a home-schooled fifth-grader and lives in Red Hill. Domingo is a fourth-grader at Kamehameha Schools from Kapolei.

Hawaiian Island Twisters gymnasts Sarah Barron and Alyssa Neal got spots on B Team. Barron, who was also a 2008 and 2009 TOPs National Team member, is a home-schooled fifth-grader from Hawaii Kai. Neal is a fourth-grader at Keone’ula Elementary School from Ewa Beach.

The four were selected after competing last month at the Women’s National Gymnastics Team Training Center at the Bela Karolyi Camp in Huntsville, Texas. They will participate early December in a training camp in Texas run by Martha and Bela Karolyi and the USA National Team coaches.

More than 2,700 gymnasts, ages 9-11, competed in regional competitions across the nation to qualify for the national competition.
