Old telephone poles go up in flames in Waianae
Honolulu firefighters are battling a rubbish fire on Waianae Valley Road.
The fire, initially reported around 8:50 p.m., has consumed a pile of old telephone poles, becoming “a big bon fire,” according to Honolulu Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Robert Main.
Main said crews expect to extinguish the fire by 11 p.m. tonight.
