Honolulu Airport’s international arrivals corridor completed
The state marked another milestone in its 12-year, $2.3 billion Airport Modernization Program today with a dedication ceremony for its new International Terminal arrivals corridor.
The 2,100-foot-long enclosed, air-conditioned corridor at Honolulu Airport has glass windows on the outside with a series of three people-mover systems that will eliminate the need for Wiki-Wiki shuttle buses.
“About 1.5 million international visitors arrive at the Honolulu International Airport every year and 80 percent of those arrivals will be utilizing the new corridor,” said Jiro Sumada, deputy director of the state Department of Transportation.
The new corridor, which will be open to the public in the second week of November, will provide a route to the customs area for arriving international passengers who deplane at Gates 26 through 34.
