HIFF’s 30th-anniversary surprise is tonight’s international premiere of "Midnight FM," which was only released Oct. 14 in Korea. This thriller stars Soo Ae Park, who is best known for her role as Lady Junghwa in the hit TV series "Emperor of the Sea." Park’s resume also includes films such as "Love Letter," "Sunny," "Once in a Summer," "Wedding Campaign," "A Family" and "Desire." Park, in Hawaii for HIFF, held a press conference with actor Chan Seung Won last week at the Halekulani hotel.

THIS WEEK’S SYNOPSES

"I Am Legend"
Episodes 11 and 12

Tonight, 6:45 p.m.: Seol-hee and Ji-wook meet in the Songhwa market office as opposing attorneys. They’re both stunned to see each other, but soon enough, Ji-wook calmly offers to up the compensation money for the merchants. But Mr. Go and Chairman Yim turn down his offer saying there seem to be illegal dealings. Areum decides to quit Comeback Madonna Band to join another idol band.

Tonight, 7:45 p.m.: Seol-hee comes to the market at night to meet Eun-ji, but they are surrounded by mysterious men. Seol-hee fights the men and gets out of danger with Tae-hyun’s help, but Eun-ji disappears.

"Definitely Neighbors"
Episodes 45 and 46

Tomorrow, 7:45 p.m.: Although Ha-yong is hesitant about it, she accepts the job offer to work at headquarters. Soo-hee goes to Yong-sil’s house and tries to bribe her into letting go of Woo-jin. Meanwhile, Woo-jin gets a call from his daughter pleading with him to give Soo-hee a second chance. Gun-hee prepares a nice surprise for Ji-yong.

Tuesday, 7:45 p.m.: After Sun-ok finds out that Jong-min’s mother is also Ji-yong’s mother, she becomes withdrawn at home. In-soo suspects that she knows something and keeps asking her until she confesses that she knows everything. Ji-yong bumps into Gun-hee’s mother and Sae-hee at a party they’re working. Sae-hee and Ji-yong have a few words, which Gun-hee overhears.

Episodes 11 and 12

Wednesday, 7:45 p.m.: Hyein kisses Daewoong on set out of the blue. Miho gets shocked and falls down from the stand. Staff members try to call an ambulance, but Daewoong tells them that there is no need to because he knows Miho’s condition the best. The lights turn off all of a sudden. Miho’s eyes turn blue, and she throws an object at Hyein out of anger but Daewoong gets hit by it instead.

Thursday, 7:45 p.m.: Daewoong and Miho realize that they are both in love with each other. Miho plans all the things she wants to do with Daewoong after she becomes a human. Dongju tries to explain what will happen in the future, but Miho refuses to listen to him, so Dongju tells Miho that he will no longer help her.

Episodes 49 and 50

Friday, 7:45 p.m.: Minjae is in the middle of a business meeting when she gets a call from Jihye saying she’s spotting. She tells Jihye to meet her at the hospital and rushes to the hospital with Yeonju. Jihye’s condition isn’t serious, but she’s ordered bed rest for a week and is hospitalized.

Saturday, 7:45 p.m.: Byungjun tells Ara to quit taking her sleeping pills, saying it could bring on serious side effects. Ara asks him if he’d marry her if she quit sleeping pills. Byungjun tells her that his problem is with her father, not her. Byunggul tells the family Jihye’s also experiencing Minjae’s curse.
