Maui hotel to host chocolate event

The Chocolate and Truffles Decadenza event at Pulehu at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas is Wednesday, with proceeds benefiting Maui County Farm Bureau and their sustainability initiatives.

The chocolate truffle-themed event presents food stations featuring sustainable menu selections artfully designed by resort executive chef Francois Milliet. Sample hors d’oeuvres specials and decadent temptations such as home-grown Braised Beef Short Ribs with Ginger Coriander Chocolate Demi Glace and Kula Corn and Surfing Goat Dairy Cheese Ravioli with White Chocolate, Parmesan Cream and Prosciutto di Parma.

Desserts included in the menu are Chocolate Smores, Chocolate Fondue, Chocolate Pot de Creme, Waialua Dark Chocolate Walnut Crunch Bar and more.

The three-hour event starts at 5:30 p.m. and costs $95 per person.

RSVP marks 25th with isle cruise

RSVP Vacations, a gay vacation company, kicks off Its 25th year with the launch of its Premiere Hawaiian Islands Cruise.

RSVP Vacations, the creator of the gay and lesbian cruise concept, is in the midst of a yearlong celebration of 25 years of all-gay and lesbian cruises. To commemorate its 25th birthday, the Minneapolis-based company has unveiled this Saturday’s cruise to Hawaii, RSVP’s first cruise to the 50th state.

The seven-day cruise on NCL’s Pride of America visits Oahu, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai, departing from Honolulu on Saturday and returning Nov. 6.

"We are honored that RSVP has selected Hawaii as the destination for its Silver Anniversary cruise," said David Uchiyama, vice president for brand management for the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
