Hawaii 19-year-old Tadd Fujikawa shot a second-round 69 yesterday to remain fourth in the PGA Tour Q-School’s first stage at The Club at Irish Creek, in Kannapolis, N.C.

Fujikawa is at 5-under-par 137 for the 72-hole qualifier, which has 77 players.

At Dayton, Nev., Leilehua and Hawaii-Hilo alum Nick Mason dropped into a tie for 33rd. Mason shot a second-round 71 and is at 3-under 141 at Dayton Valley Country Club. He was 3-over for the day after his first eight holes.

At the weather-delayed first stage in Santee, Calif., Maui’s Samuel Cyr finished his first-round 73, then went right back out and fired a 7-under 65 yesterday. He is second among the 17 players who have finished two rounds. Former Pearl and Hawaii State Open champ Jesse Mueller, from Arizona, opened with a 69 but did not finish his second round.

The top 23 and ties from each of the three events advance to second stage next month. Hawaii will host its first PGA Q-School first stage next week at Turtle Bay.

Memorial event Nov. 12

First Tee of Hawaii will host the Larry Chun Memorial Golf Fundraiser on Nov. 12 at Barbers Point. Format is four-person scramble with no handicaps and the field is limited to 15 teams. Cost is $100. Top officials on golf show

Johnny Eusebio, PGA golf operations manager at the Waikoloa Beach Resort’s Kings’ & Beach Courses, and Hawaii State Junior Golf Association president Mary Bea Porter-King will be guests on the Emily T Gail Show at 6 p.m. Sunday on 850-AM in Hilo and 790-AM in Kona.

They will discuss the HSJGA’s Asia Pacific Junior Cup, which will be Nov. 11-14 at the Kings’ Course. The tournament brings together the top juniors from Hawaii and Asia/Pacific for a Ryder Cup-style event. The tournament benefits HSJGA and the Waikoloa Foundation.
