"ALLEGIANCE" PREVIEW


1. Guy Merola, left, and Mark Wong were joined by Dr. Mark Mugiishi in hosting a private producers' audition for "Allegiance," a new musical about the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, with Lea Salonga, producer Lorenzo Thione, George Takei, Telly Leung and composer Jay Kuo, Sept. 10 in Makiki Heights. Salonga and Leung sang selections from the show. It is scheduled to open on Broadway in 2012. For more info, go to www.allegiancemusical.com.

Estelle Green, second from left, couldn't believe her eyes when designs from her new line, A Touch of Estrellita, were featured in the "Fashion Week -- Polynesian Style" show presented by Cliff Duldulao, center, and Ralph Malani Sept. 5. at Level 4. THREE "ISLAND" STARS

3. "Once On This Island" cast members Leonard Villanueva, left, Alison Maldonado and Christopher Lowe came out to meet the audience after the show Saturday at Paliku Theatre. Lowe dominates several scenes as the dread Papa Ge; Maldonado and Villanueva are a delightful duo as the heroine's peasant parents.

4. La Pietra senior Alex Lanning, right, chatted with co-hosts Shari Lynn and Jimmy Borges after she performed at La Pietra's Sunset Jazz fundraiser last Sunday. DWIGHT'S BIG NIGHT


2. Wig wrangler Greg Howell, left, congratulated Dwight Martin, producing director of Manoa Valley Theatre, at the opening-night party for MVT's production of "The Honky Tonk Angels" Sept. 9. The show marks Martin's 30th year at MVT and he was recognized in a brief ceremony just before showtime.
