Firefighters assist a sailboat temporarily disabled off Nanakuli
Firefighters assisted a 25-foot sailboat today with four people on board that became stranded with engine problems about three miles offshore of Nanakuli.
Rescuers responded to a call about 3:15 p.m. and launched a rescue boat and a personal watercraft, said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig. By the time the rescue boat reached the sailboat, the wind had picked up and the boat’s sail was raised.
Firefighters are escorting the boat back to Waianae Boat Harbor. No one has been injured.
