A burglar tried to get away unseen by a security camera by covering it with his hand, but his image was caught on video anyway and police were able to identify and arrest him Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said that security video from a Waikiki restaurant showed a man breaking in through the front door at about 1:50 a.m. on Aug. 16. A hand was then seen covering the video camera in the office, police said.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from an office safe.

But police were still able to identify the suspect from the surveillance video and arrested him on Kuhio Avenue Wednesday.
