Warriors QB Moniz named WAC Player of the Week
University of Hawaii quarterback Bryant Moniz, who rallied the Warriors to a 31-28 victory over Army Saturday, was named Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week today.
Moniz completed 25 of 36 passes for 343 yards and three touchdowns.
His three first-half scoring passes staked UH to a 21-0 lead only to see the host Cadets score 28 unanswered points for a 28-21 lead.
UH later tied it on an Alex Green 3-yard run in the third period before Moniz’s final heroics.
The junior signal-caller drove UH into field-goal position after the Warriors recovered a fumble at its 27 with 24 seconds left. His 31-yard pass to Royce Pollard set up Scott Enos’ game-winning kick with seven seconds left.
UH, 1-1, plays at Colorado this week.
