Honolulu firefighters return to Waialua to ‘mop up’ brush fire
Six Honolulu fire engine companies, four tankers and the Honolulu Fire Department’s helicopter returned to Waialua this morning where 100 acres were burned by a brush fire yesterday.
Today’s operations will be mainly “mop up work,” said Fire Capt. Terry Seelig. “There is no active fire.”
There is still smoke coming from areas where there was a lot of vegetation, he said.
The helicopter will be used today mainly for observation rather than water drops, Seelig added.
