Man gets 27 months for moving TCE
A man found guilty of illegally transporting hazardous waste in 2005 is going to prison for two years and three months.
A federal judge sentenced Stephen Swift to prison yesterday for the illegal transport and storage of tetrachloroethylene, or TCE, a cleaning solvent.
Swift transported the chemical in 55-gallon drums from Sand Island to a site in Waianae, where they sat until state authorities discovered them leaking in an unlocked shipping container in 2008.
The U.S. Environmental Protections Agency spent more than $200,000 to clean up the property on Haleahi Road.
