Modern “Hawaii Five-0” theme song unveiled
CBS unveiled a modern arrangement today of the classic theme music it plans to use for its fall season reboot of "Hawaii Five-0."
The network screened a music video of the theme — which features composer Brian Tyler conducting 35 musicians — at Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego. The theme was recorded last month using a new arrangement by Tyler, who has composed music for "Fast & Furious" and "Rambo."
George Schweitzer, president of CBS Marketing Group, said it was essential to have "the flavor" of the original theme in a modern arrangement.
"We’re treating the ‘Hawaii Five-0’ theme as a lead character in the show, and we’ll make use of the song in a variety of ways as we launch the new series," he said in a statement.
To promote the show, CBS is distributing 60,000 ring tone cards at Comic-Con that entitle the recipient to a free ring tone of the new theme.
