Koi, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based designer scrubs company founded and headed by Hawaii designer Kathy Peterson, has entered a partnership with Marc Ecko Enterprises to launch two new lines of designer scrubs.

The new Ecko Unltd. and Ecko Red brands, designed in collaboration with koi, will feature scrub tops and pants for men and women, to debut next spring.

The partnership is Marc Ecko Enterprises’ first foray in the designer scrubs market and the company’s first collaboration with koi, started in 2006 and an industry leader in designer scrubs. Koi’s garments are often seen on many of television’s medical dramas, and Peterson’s street-smart styles also make them popular as casual wear.

Koi has also collaborated with tokidoki on a limited-edition scrub set.

"I’m really excited about this partnership," said Peterson. "Marc Ecko is one of the top names in global youth culture and fashion.

She said that a younger generation of health care workers has grown up with the Ecko brands, "but there hasn’t been anything like these brands in the uniform market before. We’re looking forward to filling that void."

As to what scrub wearers can find on the racks now, koi has introduced two new limited-edition tops through its Hope Breast Cancer Collection to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
