Fujikawa’s 7-under 64 nets finish in fourth
Tadd Fujikawa shot a 7-under 64 yesterday to surge to a fourth-place finish at the eGolf Tour’s Southern Open in Kannapolis, N.C.
Fujikawa’s final round matched the day’s best and landed the Moanalua High graduate at 14-under 270 for the tournament, four strokes behind winner Jhared Hack. He carded six straight birdies on Nos. 2-7 before a double bogey on No. 8.
Fujikawa bettered his best finish of the season by one and earned $11,271, his biggest paycheck. The payday increases his winnings to $35,297.52 and moves him from 22nd to 16th on the money list with six events to go. The tour pays the way for its top 20 money winners to participate in the PGA Tour’s Q-School, one way to earn a spot on the sport’s top circuit.
Josh Gallman (267) finished second and Martin Ureta (269) third.
Third-round leader Todd Murphy, a former teaching pro at Kapalua, closed with a 4-over 75 to finish eight strokes back, tied for 14th.
The tour’s next stop is the Forest Oaks Classic next weekend in Greensboro, N.C. The winner gets an exemption into the Nationwide Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship.
