Bell leads Barbers Point golf
Alika Bell shot a 5-under 67 and takes a two-shot lead into today’s final round of the Barbers Point Invitational.
Bell’s two-round total is 8-under-par 136. He leads state high school champion Rudy Cabalar Jr., who shot 68 yesterday and is at 138.
Past champion Brandan Kop shot even par and is 3 under for the tournament at 141. Another past champion, Matt Ma, rallied from a 77 Thursday to shoot 68 yesterday.
Chris DeAlmeida scored a double eagle on the par-5 12th hole.
Ewa Beach boxer falls in semis
Hawaii’s Corina Ishikawa suffered a close loss in the semifinals of the 2010 USA Boxing National Championships on Thursday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Ishikawa, from Ewa Beach, competes in the 106-pound division. She won a 22-14 decision over Samantha Guzman, of Illinois, in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinal, Ishikawa lost a 15-14 decision to California’s Jessica Ponce.
Honolulu’s Gardenia Sims reached the quarterfinals before losing a 9-4 decision in the 165-pound division.
Golf event supports tennis
Golfers can still enter the inaugural Kahiau Charity Golf Tournament, to be played Friday at Hawaii Prince Golf Club. The tournament will raise funds for Kahiau Tennis Foundation, which supports the "growth and development of junior tennis in Hawaii."
The event has a noon shotgun start. Format is three-person scramble and cost is $450 per team or $150 for an individual. For more information, contact the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section at 585-9526.
