A bicycle rider was struck and killed near the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kamakee Street early this morning, leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old man on suspicion of negligent homicide.

Emergency Medical Services personnel responding to a 2:47 a.m. call treated the rider, a male believed to be in his 20s, at the scene and transported him to a local trauma center where he was subsequently pronounced dead, according to EMS spokesperson Bryan Cheplic.

Police arrested the driver at the scene.
