Senior pedestrian is hit in Waipahu
A pedestrian in her 70s was struck by a vehicle yesterday evening in Waipahu.
She was taken in critical condition to a trauma center by ambulance, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the Emergency Services Department.
The incident occurred at about 6:05 p.m. at Paiwa and Hiapo streets.
Man who died after diving identified
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 45-year-old man who died after diving off the cliffs at Portlock in Hawaii Kai on Tuesday as Glenn Cooke of Honolulu.
The cause of death has not yet been determined.

A fire spokesman said the man had been jumping off the cliff area some 50 to 60 feet in the area of Spitting Caves when he did not resurface. His friends dived in after him but could not find him.
Fire rescue personnel recovered the man 30 to 40 feet underwater.
Cooke was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Bomb ignites car with sleeping man
A 22-year-old Waimanalo man sleeping in his vehicle in his driveway was awakened when his vehicle caught fire, apparently from a Molotov cocktail, police said.
The incident happened at about 1:20 a.m. yesterday. Police said the man’s brother woke the victim up and got him out of the vehicle.
The suspect or suspects are still at large.
