Comics section boasts 35 favorites

Today the Honolulu Star-Advertiser debuts a revamped Sunday comics section in broadsheet form.

The lineup has been expanded to include 35 strips, a dozen more than appeared in the Advertiser and two more than were featured in the Star-Bulletin.

Local contributions include Star-Advertiser illustrator Dave Swann’s "Trouble in Paradise" as well as "Thorney’s Zoo" and "Calabash" by Dave Thorne and Jon Murakami, respectively. Deb Aoki’s popular "Bento Box" will join the rotation starting June 27.

Many comic strips that already appear in the daily Today section—"Doonesbury," "Zits," "Garfield," "For Better or for Worse" and "Pearls Before Swine," to name a few—can be found in the Sunday comics, along with "Dilbert," "Mother Goose & Grimm," "Beetle Bailey," "Blondie" and other former Advertiser favorites.
