Museum displays wearable art

The Mission Houses Museum Store will be hosting a trunk show featuring hand-dyed clothing and home decor by Vicky Durand, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.

Durand makes one-of-a-kind shirts, dresses, sarongs, pareo, scarves, visors and other tropical accessories in her Makaha Beach studio. Her line of wearable art is inspired by Hawaii’s lush tropical flora, colorful marine life and petroglyphs. Her tropical home accessories, including table linens, napkins and shower curtains, embrace the same tropical motifs.

Durand, a 1957 international surfing champion, fell in love with Hawaii on a visit to Molokai at the age of 12. In addition to water sports, she had an early fascination with sewing and fashion, and debuted her resort collection in 2004. More of her work can be seen at www.hawaiianwearableart.com.

Salon holds diamond showcase

Harry Winston salon is hosting the Winston Bridal Fair, a diamond showcase, through Saturday.

The Ala Moana Center salon will house the full range of Harry Winston’s bridal collections, from classic solitaires with tapered baguettes, to diamond rock bands and the HW Ring, a contemporary engagement ring design.

Special presentations will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday, to inform brides and grooms to me on how to select the perfect diamond.

‘Kaiulani’ jewelry going on display

Mellow Antiques is hosting an exclusive viewing of jewelry pieces worn by the cast of "Princess Kaiulani," from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Nordstrom line draws on Asian star

Nordstrom recently picked up the Seventy Two Changes clothing line geared toward the young, trendy shopper for its Savvy department.

The brand represents a partnership between Taiwanese Mandopop singer Jolin Tsai, who is its creative director, and L.A.M.B. co-founder Ken Erman’s New York based Truth + Pride.

Tsai has been the first Asian superstar to effectively partner with a U.S. fashion company, creating contemporary designs that have global appeal while encouraging wearers to have fun with fashion.

Tsai is involved in every step of the design process and often focuses on movement in appreciation of dance. The brand debuted last fall with a jazz dance theme.

Seventy Two Changes opened a flagship boutique in Shanghai in February, and will expand to Beijing and Guangzhou in 2011.

Neiman Marcus event has essentials to survive summer
