Applicants are being sought for a vacant post on the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation’s board of directors.
Those interested have until 4:30 p.m. Aug. 7 to submit to HART a completed application form, cover letter and resume.
The opening is the result of the recent resignation of former state Senate President Robert Bunda. The term expires June 30, 2018.
The nine-member HART board was established by City Charter in 2011. It is tasked with setting policy for the construction, operation and maintenance of the city’s $6 billion rail transit system, the most expensive public works project in the state’s history.
Three members of the board are appointed by the mayor, and three others are appointed by the Honolulu City Council, while the city transportation services director and state transportation director are automatically assigned to the board. The eight then collectively decide on the ninth voting member, which is the vacant post.
The public members of the board are voluntary and receive no compensation. The director of the city Department of Planning and Permitting serves in an ex officio, nonvoting capacity.
Applications and support documents can be emailed to HART board administrator Cindy Matsushita at cmatsushita@honolulu.gov or mailed to HART Board Administrator, 1099 Alakea St., Suite 1700, Honolulu 96813.
Applications should include a current mailing address and daytime telephone number.
