Man killed in Mililani crash identified
The medical examiner identified a 21-year-old Mililani man who died Monday evening after he apparently lost control of his car and hit a tree on Meheula Parkway.
Jonathan O’Neil died in the crash that happened at about 6:21 p.m. near Holanialii Street. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
According to police, O’Neil was traveling north at a high rate of speed on Meheula Parkway when he lost control of his car and struck a tree on the median strip.
He suffered critical head and internal injuries and was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he later died.
Police said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the incident.
Police closed Meheula Parkway in both directions between Holanialii Street and Hokuahiahi Street for more than three hours while an investigation was conducted.
