>> Boston outfielder Shane Victorino (St. Anthony) was activated off the disabled list Friday and made his first start Saturday, going 2-for-4 and scoring twice in a 6-1 win over Houston.
>> The Dodgers designated right-hander Brandon League (Saint Louis) for assignment Thursday after the 30-day limit on his rehab assignment expired. Los Angeles has 10 days to trade, waive or release League, who is guaranteed $7.5 million this season.
>> Right-handed knuckleballer Steven Wright (Hawaii) took another ride on the Pawtucket shuttle Saturday when the Red Sox recalled him from Triple-A for his fourth stint with the big league team.
>> Tampa Bay optioned right-handed pitcher Kirby Yates (Kauai) to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
>> The Tampa Bay Times ran a feature on Class A (advanced) second baseman Kean Wong (Waiakea) on Thursday. It can be found on the Internet at bit.ly/1Cib4iF. Baseball America named Wong to its all-prospect team for June after he hit .389 in the month, fifth best in the minor leagues.
>> Visalia outfielder Breland Almadova (‘Iolani, Hawaii) played a key role in a win on June 28 when he reached on an error by fellow islander Isiah Kiner-Falefa (Mid-Pacific) of High Desert. Teammate Mitch Haniger followed with a three-run homer for a 4-3 Rawhide win.
>> Catcher Iolana Akau (Saint Louis) was promoted to Class A (full-season) Beloit. He made his debut with the Snappers on Thursday and had two hits in each of his first two games.
>> Former UH pitchers Scott Squier and L.J. Brewster are on the staff together for the Marlins’ Short-Season Class A team, the Batavia Muckdogs. Their pitching coach is Leilehua and UH Hilo alum Brendan Sagara.
