Move aside, Diana Ross and Janet Jackson: The biennial Gridiron Show is Hawaii’s fastest entertainment sell-out.
In fact, the demand for tickets is so great, the Society of Professional Journalists’ Hawaii Chapter added a fourth show for its new "Gridiron 2015: On Time and on Budget," set for Aug. 27-29 at Diamond Head Theatre. (Tickets for the three 2013 shows sold out in 45 minutes.)
Fans of ripped-from-the-headlines songs and skits, political satire and amateur chorus lines featuring Hawaii media stars will be able to purchase tickets for all four shows starting at 8 a.m. Monday via Ticketmaster outlets at the Blaisdell Center box office and Walmart stores and online at ticketmaster.com. To charge by phone, call 800-745-3000. (Accessible seating is available only through phone orders.)
The curtain will go up at 8 p.m. Aug. 27 and 28, and 3 and 8 p.m. Aug. 29. Ticket prices are $45 to $65.
Among the cast of this year’s Gridiron Show are local journalists Gordon Pang, Dan Cooke, Tannya Joaquin, Paul Drewes, Chad Blair, Erika Engle, Keoki Kerr and Denby Fawcett. Also back are scene-stealers Lance Rae, Cathy Foy, Kristopher De La Cruz, Donalyn Dela Cruz and Moani Wright-Van Alst.
Tickets are not tax-deductible, but proceeds from the show support SPJ’s student internships.
