Two work furlough inmates who failed to return to prison are back behind bars. One of them was recaptured after just 3 hours.

Barry Williams left the Oahu Community Correctional Center Tuesday morning, by failed to return by his designated time of  6:30 p.m.

Shortly afterward, police found and arrested Williams, 33, the Department of Public Safety announced at 9:40 p.m.

Williams was serving time for promotion of a detrimental drug, and was scheduled for a parole hearing in August.

He could face a second-degree escape charge, the Department of Public Safety said.

Meanwhile, OCCC inmate Robert Balanza, who has been missing since July 4 when he failed to return from an one-day work furlough, was recaptured Tuesday afternoon near Chinatown.

Balanza, 50, left the Laumaka Work Furlough Center in the morning on July 4 and was supposed to return in the afternoon.

Balanza was serving time for various drug charges. His next parole hearing was scheduled for November. 

 Besides being booked for second-degree escape, he also was arrested on several drug charges.
