UPDATE: Saturday, 5 p.m

Waiawa Correctional Facility officers apprehended escaped inmate Irvin T. Agres just before noon today off Waiawa Prison Road, according to the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

State Sheriffs booked Agres, 41, for escape and will take him to the Halawa Correctional Facility, officials said.

Agres, a minimum-custody inmate serving time for a parole violation relating to a first-degree robbery conviction, was missing from a headcount at about 8:45 a.m. Friday.

The circumstances of how Agres escaped from the facility are under investigation, officials said.

Waiawa corrections officers had been searching the area for Agres since Friday morning until they found him today, they said.

WCF Warden Sean Ornellas commended his staff for their efforts. “I’m proud of their diligent work,” Warden Ornellas said in a news relese.

Agres faces a first-degree escape charge.
