Mililani students help reduce food waste

Recently Mililani High School students testified to legislators in support of HB 2083, introduced by Representative Tirsh La Chica (D, Mililani, Waipio Gentry, Koa Ridge) which would require the Department of Education to establish a pilot program for a plant-based meal program one day a week and to reach a local farm to school meal goal of thirty percent of food served to students by 2030. The bill did not advance but the students remain dedicated to the cause in an effort to reduce food waste and have healthier outcomes for youth in their community.
