STARADVERTISER / APRIL 4, 1949
The sad fate of many of the original furnishings of Iolani Palace is illustrated by this sideboard, which is on display in auctioneer Maurice Lipton’s showroom at Queen and Punchbowl streets. Lipton does not know how the sideboard came into the possession of the firm from which he acquired it. A photostatic copy of a declaration by Curtis P. Iaukea, chamberlain to King Kalakaua, testifies to the authenticity of the piece, which once stood in the state dining room of the palace.
