Honolulu police arrest man, 56, in alleged ax attack
A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder early Saturday morning after he allegedly attacked a 33-year-old man with an ax near South King Street.
The suspect and victim argued before the 56-year-old man allegedly attacked the younger man with an ax, according to police.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services paramedics treated the victim at about 2:57 a.m.
“Paramedics treated him with advanced life support after he suffered multiple injuries from an apparent assault with a weapon,” EMS officials said. “EMS transported him to an emergency room in serious condition.”
The older man was “treated him for pain to his abdomen” and declined transport to an emergency room.
The suspect was arrested at 3:50 a.m. at 1507 South King St.

HPD has opened an attempted murder investigation, and charges are pending.
