Honolulu Emergency Medical Services personnel were busy responding to several fireworks-related incidents overnight, including serious injuries to children. According to EMS:

>> At 12:07 a.m. Monday on Lamaula Road in Windward Oahu, a 64-year-old man was taken to a hospital in serious condition after suffering an extensive eye injury from an apparent fireworks blast.

>> At 12:13 a.m. Kinoiki Street in Ewa, a 6-year-old boy was seriously hurt after a firework hit him in the legs. EMS evaluated him at scene but he did not require transport to a hospital.

>> At 12:15 a.m. on Leilani Street in Kalihi, a 35-year-old man suffered an eye injury from an apparent firework blast. EMS personnel treated him and took him to an emergency room.

>> At 8:45 p.m. Sunday, a 10-year-old boy was in serious condition on Waena Street in Whitmore Village, where EMS responded to a patient who suffered extensive injuries to his hand after a firework blast caused minor burns to his upper body. EMS paramedics treated the boy with advanced life support and transported him to an emergency room.

>> At 7:25 p.m., a 67-year-old man on Makahani Street in Kapolei was in serious condition after suffering a deep laceration to his forearm from a fireworks blast. Paramedics treated the man and took him to an emergency room.

>> At 6:30 p.m., a 14-year-old girl Leowahine Street in Waipahu was in serious condition and taken to an emergency room after receiving multiple injuries to her arms, legs and face when an explosive went off inside a room.
