Applause to David Nagamine for criticizing the very lenient censure letters issued to Navy admirals responsible for the Red Hill disaster (“Lenient punishment for Red Hill failings,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Oct. 16).
These pseudo-punishments are part of a saga that has included lies from the Navy every step of the way. It even told those lies to its own military families.
Step 1: Demand harsher disciplinary action against the admirals.
Step 2: Adopt a strong skepticism toward the Navy.
The only logical approach that an intelligent person can take now is to assume that everything the Navy says is a lie until it is proven otherwise. Sadly, people in other countries already have adopted this kind of skepticism about the U.S. because of its military excesses and corporate-driven, imperialist foreign policy.
The sooner we all realize this, the sooner we’ll be able to stop all the misdeeds carried out in our names. Then we can create a better life for everyone at home and abroad, making the U.S. an agent of good rather than of harm.
