Firefighters bow their heads in prayer at the Travis Maher 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Pleasant Valley Drill Tower in Austin, Texas, on Monday. Dozens of Austin firefighters, many of them carrying 50 lbs. of gear, climbed 108 flights of stairs at the drill tower in the annual event to remember the New York City firefighters who died in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack. The stair climb is named in honor of Austin Fire Department Battalion Chief Travis Maher who served at Ground Zero immediately following 9/11, and lost his battle with cancer.
