The search for the missing snorkeler at Shark’s Cove has been suspended for a second day, the Honolulu Fire Department reported.

HFD this evening said the search for the snorkeler, who was last seen Tuesday afternoon around Shark’s Cove, has been suspended due to fading light for the second day.

Fire department personnel, along with the Honolulu Emergency Services Department’s Ocean Safety Division, spent today searching for the man, described as a man in his 60s, via air, land and sea.

The search was suspended at around 7:20 p.m. today and will resume at first light Thursday.

The Honolulu Police Department was notified to continue its search on land.

9:30 a.m.

Honolulu Ocean Safety personnel resumed their search for a missing 60-year-old swimmer today.

At 6:30 a.m. today, Ocean Safety rejoined the Honolulu Fire Department to continue their search efforts, according to an Ocean Safety spokesperson.

The U.S. Coast Guard also joined in the search this morning. Ocean Safety has two personal watercraft crews on the scene.

The conditions were reportedly calm at the time the snorkeler went missing.

A man in his 60s went missing Tuesday afternoon while swimming near Shark’s Cove in Pupukea, the Honolulu Fire Department reported.

At around 2 p.m. HFD received a 911 call about the swimmer and arrived at the scene a few minutes later to look for the man, who was last seen snorkeling just outside Shark’s Cove.

HFD and the Honolulu Emergency Services Department’s Ocean Safety Division conducted a search by air, land and sea, but suspended the search at around 7:20 p.m. due to fading light.

They will continue the search on Wednesday at first light.

The Honolulu Police Department was notified to continue searching on land.
