Two men were critically injured and three others were seriously injured when a vehicle collided with a city bus in Laie Sunday.

The collision occurred around 11:36 a.m. on Kamehameha Highway northbound, near Naniloa Loop, according to Honolulu police. A 26-year-old driver and his passenger, a 29-year-old man, were in the vehicle, which crossed the center line and collided head-on with the city bus, police said.

The bus driver, a 62-year-old man, was not injured, but three of his passengers — three men ages 91, 43 and 54 — were taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Other passengers aboard the bus were not injured or declined treatment.

Speed is not a contributing factor in the collision. It is unknown yet if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The investigation is ongoing.
