Bullfights, wild beasts and daredevil drivers will open Hawaii’s newest annual festival, Fiesta Hawaiiana, at Honolulu Stadium after a short but colorful Latin American parade, in which the top floats will be awarded prizes.

Two young Dutch women left their wooden shoes at home when they visited Hawaii for a promotional visit. Rose Marie Alvero, left, greeted Louise Vermaat and Maya Deirkauf of the Amsterdam Tourist Association, who were in Honolulu to help Canadian Pacific Airlines promote travel to Amsterdam from Hawaii via a one-stop polar route.

Another historic landmark in downtown Honolulu has come tumbling down. A building on the corner of Queen and Fort streets included the historic Beaver Grill and the campaign headquarters for former state Rep. Walter M. Heen. The block is being prepared for the new James N. Campbell estate building.
