Flood advisory canceled for west side of Big Island

The flood advisory for a portion of Hawaii island has been canceled.
6:50 p.m.
A flood advisory for Leeward Oahu has been canceled. An advisory for a portion of west Hawaii island is in effect until 9:30 p.m.
“At 6:20 PM HST, radar indicated nearly stationary heavy showers over the South Kohala district. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour, and was especially heavy in the area between Kawaihae and Waikoloa,” according to the National Weather Service.
The Big Island advisory includes portions of leeward South Kohala between Kohala Ranch and Puuanahulu.

Forecasters said, “locally heavy showers over leeward areas will dissipate this evening. Moderate trades will then focus clouds and showers over windward and mauka slopes, mainly overnight, through mid-week.”

The flood advisory for Leeward Oahu has been extended until 5:15 p.m. today and now includes Central Oahu as a result of flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
At 2:25 p.m. today, the radar showed heavy rainfall over portions of Leeward and Central Oahu with rain falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour, the National Weather Service reported.
Some locations that may experience flooding include Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Field, Waianae, Nanakuli, Kunia, Wahiawa, Mililani, Makakilo, Waialua, Waikele, Waipahu, Kapolei, Haleiwa, Ewa Beach, Pearl City, Barbers Point, Iroquois Point, Lualualei, Maili and Whitmore Village.
The advisory may be extended past 5:15 p.m. if flooding persists.

A flood advisory has been issued for Leeward Oahu until 3:45 p.m. today due to excessive rainfall.
At 12:37 p.m. today, the radar indicated heavy rain over Leeward Oahu on the Waianae coast with rain falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour, the National Weather Service reported.
Some locations that may experience flooding include Waianae, Nanakuli, Makakilo, Kapolei, Barbers Point, Ewa Beach, Lualualei, Maili, Makaha, Makua Valley, Ko Olina, Kaena State Park, Campbell Industrial Park and Kalaeloa Airport.
Forecasters said potential impacts include minor flooding on roads and in streams as well poor draining areas. Avoid streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
The advisory may be extended past 3:45 p.m. if flooding persists.
