Box jellyfish warning signs posted for Oahu’s south, west shores, Kauai beaches

Honolulu Ocean Safety officials have posted signs this morning to warn the public about box jellyfish after lifeguards observed the stinging invertebrates along the shoreline on the south and west shores of Oahu.

Box jellyfish, which can cause a painful sting to individuals, usually arrive 8 to 10 days after a full moon.

On Kauai, ocean safety officials posted warning signs at Poipu and Salt Pond beach parks.
