Kaiser High School students win sustainability award for restoring native plants

Kaiser High School student Yonjin Lee holds the stem of an ’aweoaweo shrub to show the cluster of flower buds on Friday, July 30. Lee was a participant in the Hawaii Youth Sustainability Challenge and was among the Kaiser High students who won an annual sustainability award from Kupu Hawaii and Kokua Hawaii Foundation to grow Native Hawaiian plants. The seeds from the mature plants are then harvested for use in conservation projects.
