Kaiser High School student Yonjin Lee and teacher Paul Balazs pose with 'aweoaweo shrubs, which Lee propogated and planted, at the school’s Peace & Sustainability Garden on Friday, July 30. Lee was a participant in the Hawaii Youth Sustainability Challenge and and was among the Kaiser High students who won an annual sustainability award from Kupu Hawaii and Kokua Hawaii Foundation to grow Native Hawaiian plants. The seeds from the mature plants are then harvested for use in conservation projects.
